A WORD FROM EBONY QUEEN 2009

What is it that inspired you to join the Ebony Nite Competition?
Modeling is what I've always loved to do and devoted much of my time to learn the cat-walk motivated by a dear friend Juveline and my mentor Mr. Jerry B. I was a bit reluctant when i learned of the Ebony Nite competition because in previous ones I've been made to feel inferior with words like "I'm not beautiful" and all that. When I went in and realised the Ebony competition wasn't about beauty but what one has to offer especially to our community i felt more encouraged and decided to stay. it all went well and i must admit i was a bit surprise when i turned up as the winner. Now I know the first place to win or fail is the mind.

How did you feel working on the Ebony Nite Community Project?

It was challenging since it's the first time I'm getting involved with something like that but i love children so it didn't make it that hard. More so, the entire Ebony Nite team is warm to work with as every one gets treated with respect. Visiting the orpharnage and getting to learn the different reasons why these kids are where they are is very heart touching too you know.

What has your Experience been like as the Ebony Queen 2009?

No lie, it's been fun. It has it's ups and downs especially when it comes to the struggles we need to go through with time management but then it's taught me quite a lot. For anything to succeed one needs to constantly work and plan. This has even made me desire to start up something of my own in a small way so much so that I have applied to host a program on one of the local radio stations this summer holidays. It's fun all the way when you put your heart to it.

What do you have to say to interested contestants for subsequent editions?

Ebony Nite is one big dream and if you know where you are coming from, it's easy to find where you're going. Don't give up on your dreams just because people say he unbearable things. Trust in yourself and trust in God to always put you through it all. The only way to win is to give in your best. More so, don't get confused, Ebony Nite is not about beauty nor is it about colour, it's all about wanting and doing the best for Africa.
